The Sweet Sounds of Murder By Tresa Rees
The Sweet Sounds of Murder – A Sold-Out Success!
Thorold Theatre’s 2025 fall production, The Sweet Sounds of Murder, brought the roaring 1920s to life at Club Belvedere’s elegant La Sila Ballroom—and what a hit it was! Both performances completely sold out, as audiences stepped into the glamour and intrigue of The Rumrunner Lounge for an evening of jazz, secrets, and scandal.
Guests arrived dressed to the nines, enjoyed a delicious three-course meal, and joined in the fun of solving a classic whodunit. From the standing ovations to the laughter echoing through the room, the response was overwhelming—proof that live community theatre is alive and thriving in Thorold!
Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and celebrated with us. If you missed out this time, don’t worry—our next production is just around the corner. Stay tuned for upcoming show announcements and be sure to get your tickets early… before they’re gone again!

All In the Timing, By David Ives (Spring 2025)
This show marked a special moment for us. As a theatre company without a permanent home, we embraced new challenges and fresh opportunities, bringing our production to the Port Robinson Community Hall. It’s a reminder that theatre thrives not because of any building, but because of the people—our dedicated volunteers, talented artists and, most importantly, our wonderful audience.
All in the Timing was a fast-paced, clever collection of one-act plays that highlight the brilliance of language and the unpredictability of a writer’s life. Audeinces found thenselves laughing, thinking, and even questioning the randomness of it all.

In the fall of 2021, Thorold Community Theatre was proud to present “And Then, The Lights Went Out…”, written by Andy Garland and directed by Deb Howey, which was available for audio streaming from November 12th at 7:00pm until November 30th at 11:59pm.
That’s right folks, due oto the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, we stepped off the stage and into the sound booth for this one of a kind performance! Audiences tuned in from the comfort of their own home, surrounded by their loved ones, for a performance that got rave reviews!
Our dedicated cast, crew and tech experts were excited to bring this performance – filled with murder, mystery and of course lots of laughter – to our audiences in a creative new format.
We were so grateful to have been selected as a recipient for a Niagara Region Tourism Adaptation and Recovery Fund grant which provided us with the resources to purchase new sound equipment and expand our theatrical offerings to include this radio drama. A huge thank you goes out to the City of Thorold for supporting our application for this grant opportunity.
